Solaris Sustainable

Illustration: Solaris SustainableLemony knew that her first born would be the sunshine of her life, and when the midwife turned on the Solaris heat ray on her belly where she went into labour, she knew it was more than just a coincidence.

15 year old Solaris defines cool - so cool he has a 5 star energy rating. He expends the least amount of energy for the maximum effect. Around the neighbourhood and at school he melts hearts and diffuses situations. He is an all round student with a special interest in electronics, and astronomy. His iPod has been rigged up with solar panelling, and around the house he has set up sensors on all the lights to detect movement or lack there of. 'Bags' loves this, but when he practices his tai chi the lights flash on and off, like a disco strobe.

When Lemony needed a new fridge, Solaris did all the research to locate the most energy efficient one he could find. He went with his Mum and Dad to the appliance stores and convinced them to hug the fridges. "A quiet fridge is a cool fridge." Bags admitted he found hugging trees more satisfying.

Solaris's influence is far reaching. Many of the local parents have sent word of their teenagers becoming interested in the running of household appliances all because Solaris said it was cool to care.
