Lemony’s mum Rosie Reek said that when she was born she was named Lemony because there was a beautiful scent of citrus in the room. Aunt Dorrie says the smell was from her atomiser which was filled with her own secret recipe, which she used to cover the smell of the hospital kitchens.
Like her name, Lemony is bright ,effervescent and at times a bit tart, but only in her sense of humour and her wardrobe! She has a powerful optimism for life which she spreads like a good smell, and can most often be seen spreading it on her morning, afternoon, and evening power walks around town. In high heels or low heels, Lemony prefers to walk than using the car. Not only is she doing her little bit for the layer upon layer of greenhouse, she is also keeping her derrière looking more like a ciabatta, than a bakers delight country loaf.
The Reeks on her father’s side kept a family journal which was handed down to each generation of female Reeks. The heirloom contained homemade recipes for cleaning just about anything and everything. Bright as a button as a child, this environment for experimenting fuelled the young apothecarist in Lemony, who was often found in the family basement brewing up some new concoctions to remove dirt using only the roots and leaves in the Reek Garden. With an honours degree in Bio Chemistry, Lemony is currently writing a paper on Citrus Limonium and its Molecular Compounding Capablitites, with a subtitle, ‘Lemons…aren’t they just super!’.
A keen shopper, and with a budget saving from her homemade cleaning potions, Lemony frequents the local charity shops dropping off Sam’s crotchet plastic rugs, and looking for fabbo flights of fashion, of which she says ‘what goes around comes around, and batwing jumpers and boob tubes have been coming and going so often that I now wear them as a twin set, especially in Melbourne where in one day the cold can tickle your knickers in a lambskin jumpsuit and the sun can burn you like a sunbed set on “Hawaiian pumpkin”’.
