Municipal councils have the option to transfer to Valuer-General Victoria responsibility for completing rating authority valuations.

Victoria’s rating authority valuations are the ministerial responsibility of the Minister for Environment and Climate Change. The Valuation of Land Act’s functions are carried out by Valuer-General Victoria, operating as part of Land Victoria.
