Change title details

Changes to information on a title are known as title dealings.

Common reasons for changing details on a title include:
  • correcting your name and address
  • a recent purchase of a property
  • re-mortgaging your property
  • completing your last mortgage repayment
  • the death of an owner.
You can lodge common land dealings yourself, but most are lodged on your behalf by conveyancers, lawyers, financial institutions or surveyors familiar with land administration.

To find one of these property professionals, refer to the White Pages and search ‘conveyancing’, ‘lawyer’ or ‘surveyor’.

Free online guides for common title dealings are available. These brochures provide basic information including tips for filling out forms. They should only be used as a general guide.

If you want more detail, the Lodging Book contains up-to-date examples of various dealings under the Transfer of Land Act 1958, Subdivision Act 1988 and other Acts that cover land dealings in Victoria.

It provides details of the documents that need to be lodged for different types of dealings including a useful glossary of terms in Section 1 General Information.

You can lodge your documents in person at:

Land Victoria
Level 9, 570 Bourke Street
Melbourne 3000

You may also post them to:

Land Registration Services
Land Victoria
PO Box 500
East Melbourne, 8002

or via Ausdoc DX250639 Melbourne.

An additional fee is charged for each dealing or application lodged by mail.
