Native Plants and Animals
Welcome to the Native Plants and Animals pages of the Department of Environment and Primary Industries website.
The department is responsible for policies and programs to manage native flora and fauna on public and private land and in terrestrial, marine, estuarine and freshwater environments. Our key focus is to ensure that flora and fauna can survive, flourish and maintain their potential for evolutionary development in the wild. We also provide expert advice on conserving and managing species in addition to regulating wildlife possession, trade and the taking of native plants and animals.
