Community engagement and invasive species
Controlling invasive species is a complex issue that requires effort from a range of stakeholders. To better understand how DEPI can engage more effectively with stakeholders and communities, a community engagement project has been established.
More than 400 interviews were held with stakeholders to gain an insight into their understanding and involvement in invasive species management. These interviews resulted in a number of findings which are informing DEPI's approach to community engagement and invasive species management.
To enhance DEPI's ability to engage with stakeholders and community members, a number of actions are now underway. This work aims to address stakeholder issues, promote a better understanding of invasive species and invasive species management, build stronger relationships and deliver better outcomes for natural assets on public land.
