Land Management

The government's vision for managing Victoria's environment is: Victorians acting together to ensure that our land, water and biodiversity are healthy, resilient and productive.

The Department of Sustainability and Environment is responsible for natural resource management (NRM) policies, planning, monitoring, reporting and investment, to sustainably manage Victoria's land, water and biodiversity.

Victoria's approach to NRM involves working with numerous parties, including all three levels of government, private landholders, farmers, industry, Indigenous communities, environment groups, researchers and the broader community to protect and manage our natural environment.
