Box Hill Central Activites District

About Box Hill

Box Hill is an important location because it is a major residential and commercial hub and has:
  • One of Melbourne’s biggest transport interchanges
  • A diverse mix of land uses, with two major hospitals, two shopping centres, a TAFE, restaurants and offices

    Recent major developments, include:
  • A 186-bed Epworth Eastern Hospital
  • Expansion of Box Hill TAFE
  • New Centro Whitehorse Shopping Centre

    Box Hill Projects

    Over $2 million from the Victorian Government and the City of Whitehorse has been spent on planning and improvements including:
  • Upgrades of the Market and Main Street Malls
  • Preparation of the Structure Plan

    $22 million was spent on extending the Route 109 tram from Mont Albert to Box Hill in 2003.

    The City of Whitehorse has developed a vision for the future development of the city in the Box Hill Activity Centre Structure Plan 2007.
