Coast Action/Coastcare Community Program
| Coast Action/Coastcare proudly supports thousands of community volunteer groups working to protect and enhance Victoria's 2000 kilometres of coastline. Community volunteer groups help to maintain our marine and coastal environment, through activities such as revegetating coastal areas, building boardwalks, fencing, building tracks, monitoring native shorebirds and animals, presenting education and awareness raising sessions, plantings, landscaping coastal areas and protecting cultural sites. There will always be a need for dedicated volunteers on our coast, and there are roles for people of all ages, interests and abilities. To join a community group or learn more about our magnificent coastal and marine environment, contact a Coast Action/Coastcare facilitator. There are seven of these regionally-based facilitators, in Warrnambool, Angelsea, Geelong, Box Hill, Yarram and Bairnsdale. |  |
How the Coast Action/Coastcare program supports coastal volunteers
 | Community groups and networks will be eligible to apply for grants of up to $50,000 to deliver projects that protect the ecological character of Victoria's coastal ecosystems. |
 | Providing opportunities for communities to learn about marine and coastal environments through activities and events such as Summer By The Sea, Coastcare Week, World Environment Day and Fun4Kids Festival. Links to upcoming activities coming soon. |
 | Organising regional and statewide training opportunities that increase community members' revegetation, weed control, dune erosion stabilisation, skills and facilitate networking among individuals |

 | Co-sponsoring the Victorian Coastal Awards for Excellence with the with the Victorian Coastal Council. The Awards acknowledge and recognise the great working being done to protect and enhance our marine and coastal environments. |
