This section of the VRO website is a collaborative effort between the Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE) (external link) and Department of Primary Industries (DPI). Much of the content was developed within the former Department of Natural Resources and Environment. DSE is now the lead agency in Victoria for the management of water resources across the state. The Maroondah Water Supply Reservoir is a protected area for water supply to Healesville and part of Metropolitan Melbourne.

Emergency Water Supply Points

Wastewater Re-use
Increasingly, Urban Water Authorities and Melbourne Water are making treated wastewater available for customers.

Water Corporations
Victoria's Water Corporations supply water and sewerage services to customers within their service areas.

• Urban services: supply water and wastewater services to regional towns.
• Rural services: manage large headworks and/or bulk supplies to regional towns and farms.Combined rural and urban services: including the management of headworks, rural, and regional town water and wastewater services, e.g. Lower Murray Water and Grampians Wimmera Mallee Water.
