Somers Foreshore Reserve Draft Management Plan

The Somers Foreshore Reserve draft Coastal Management Plan (Plan) is now on exhibition and open for public comment.

The Somers Foreshore Reserve (the Reserve) is 28 hectares of publically owned land adjacent to the Somers township on the Mornington Peninsula overlooking Western Port to Phillip Island. The Reserve is managed by the Somers Foreshore Reserve Committee of Management (the Committee).

The Plan was prepared by the Committee and the Department of Environment and Primary Industries (DEPI) in consultation with the local community.

The vision for the Reserve is to create “A self-sustaining reserve in near natural condition which meets the growing recreational and environmental needs of the community in a cost effective manner”.

The Plan aims to ensure that the Reserve:

  • Continues to provide a range of recreational opportunities;
  • Is valued for its ecological significance; and
  • Is managed for public safety.
