    The Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE) in Gippsland has treated almost 27,000 hectares of public land this autumn planned burning season to reduce bushfire risk to people, property and communities. DSE Regional Manager Land and Fire, Grange Jephcott said crews use fire-lighting ping-pong balls or aerial drip torches to ignite large areas of remote forests and parks within a relatively short time-frame.
