Community of Practice

"Communities of practice are groups of people who share a concern or a passion for something they do and learn how to do it better as they interact regularly." Wenger, 2005

Do you want to meet, share, support and learn from other passionate Community Engagement practitioners?
The Engagment and Partnersips Team (EPT) Statewide Services, DSE, in close collaboration with project partners, has initiated the establishment of a Statewide Community Engagement - Community of Practice (CE- CoP). This community will support cross-disciplinary linkages between practitioners who are interested in collaborative and active learning approaches to support their own and others improved ‘community engagement’ practice.

What is the Community Engagement - Community of Practice (CE-CoP)?
Many practitioners operating within Government are either directly or indirectly working with stakeholders and community and have a breadth of skills, experience and knowledge in the ‘how’, ‘why’ and ‘who’ of engagement. Participation in these CE-CoPs will help these practitioners develop professional networks and to share and learn from one another. The activities of CE CoP are defined by the members and remain responsive and flexible to member needs. Groups choose activities to suit their areas of interest, which generally aim to facilitate the exchange of information; such as discussion centred around emerging tools; innovative ideas; and case studies of good practice.

Where are the CE CoPs?
Currently Communities of Practice are operating in the Grampians, Geelong, Bendigo, Melbourne and Gippsland.
