Draft Design Guidelines for Nature-Based Tourism

Victoria's Nature Based Tourism Strategy 2008-2012 made a commitment to developing Design Guidelines for Nature-Based Tourism (NBT) in Victoria, to: Promote the development of high quality, environmentally sustainable, NBT accommodation and facilities in Victoria Assist investors, developers, designers, land managers and local communities to understand the preferred form and design of NBT accommodation and facilities, particularly on environmentally and culturally sensitive sites Assist planners, design assessment advisors, public land managers and decision-makers at local and State level in assessing proposals for NBT accommodation and facilities. Draft Design Guidelines have been prepared for the Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE) by Inspiring Place Pty Ltd and Gregory Burgess Architects Pty Ltd. Draft Design Guidelines for Nature Based Tourism (PDF - 2.8 MB) A Project Steering Committee established to oversee the development of the Design Guidelines includes membership from DSE, Tourism Victoria, Parks Victoria, the Department of Planning and Community Development, the Office of the Victorian Government Architect, the Municipal Association of Victoria and Corangamite Shire Council. Stakeholder feedback DSE invites feedback on the draft Design Guidelines for Nature-Based Tourism. Key stakeholders asked to provide feedback for the further development of the draft include tourism operators, developers and industry associations, municipal councils, and public land managers. Please refer to the key questions document below for guidance before completing your feedback. A feedback form is also attached.
