Victorian Water Registrar

The Victorian Water Registrar has responsibility for recordings in the Water Register which was implemented for northern Victorian regulated systems on 1 July 2007 and will also apply to declared water systems in southern Victoria from 1 July 2008.

The Victorian Water Registrar is responsible for recording water share transactions including transfers, mortgages, limited term transfers and discharges of mortgage. The Registrar also ensures the accuracy, reliability and accessibility of water records. Through the Victorian Water Registrar you can lodge your water share transaction using a form approved by the Registrar and you can search the water register.

The Office of Water is responsible for the overall water system and the unbundling of water; water authorities manage water allocations, approve water share transfers and issue water use licences.
