Coasts and Waterways Planning
| The Victorian Government has a key role to play in managing significant areas of our coasts, our waterways and the adjacent land. Using the tools of the planning system and other management mechanisms, state and local governments work to protect the values that we love about these areas. Government and non-government stakeholders have roles in managing the pressures on the coast and waterways. Within the Department of Planning and Community Development (DPCD), Planning, Heritage and Urban Design plays an important role in coordinating planning for the coast and waterways, with a view to sustainable development.
