Frankston Projects

Frankston projects will improve links between the railway station, town centre and the foreshore. The projects will create a public transport gateway for Frankston to connect the Mornington Peninsula and Melbourne's CBD. Improvements to Kananook Creek will reconnect Frankston's town centre with the bay and create a new space for shops, services and recreation. Higher-density development will also be a feature.

$10.5 million has been spent over the past five years on:
  • A Master Plan
  • A new learning centre at the Chisholm Institute of TAFE
  • Upgrading Wells Street
  • Improvements to Kananook Creek and the foreshore
Frankston was allocated an additional $11.6 million over four years in the 2006-07 State Budget to revitalise the Kananook Creek precinct by creation of a new boardwalk and other improvements to unlock its development potential, and to improve links between the railway station, the town centre, the Creek and the foreshore. DPCD is working in collaboration with Frankston City Council on these projects. Construction has started on the Kananook Creek Boulevard and is expected to be complete by the end of 2009.
