Geelong Bypass (Section 3)

The EES process was completed when the Minister for Planning released his Assessment of the Geelong Bypass (Section 3) in May 2006.
Project History
On 10 February 2004 the Minister for Planning determined that an EES was required for the Geelong Bypass (Section 3). An EES was not required for Section 1 or Section 2 of the Bypass, which were developed within an existing road reservation.
Assessment (Scoping) Guidelines for the EES were issued in March 2005.
The EES and planning scheme amendments C113, C114 and C115 were exhibited for public comment from 8 August to 16 September 2005.
The Minister for Planning appointed an inquiry panel jointly under the Environment Effects Act 1978 and the Planning and Environment Act 1987 to consider the EES, amendment and public submissions. The Inquiry Panel Report is attached below:
Project Description
The Geelong Bypass (Section 3) is part of the larger Geelong Bypass project, which stretches from the Princes Freeway at Corio to the Princes Highway at Waurn Ponds.
An EES was only required for Section 3, which is the section of road from Hamilton Highway to the Princes Highway, together with a corridor link to the Surf Coast Highway.
