City of Wyndham
Former Laverton Air Base
The Priority Development Panel (PDP) considered a request by Cedar Woods Pty Ltd for the Minister for Planning to become the Planning Authority for an amendment to the Wyndham Planning Scheme.
This proposed a redevelopment of the former Laverton Air Base as a master planned mixed use development including development of a new rail station, a new transit based Activity Centre and employment node, with office, retail, restaurants, civic buildings, bulky goods, supported by a significant residential community at a range of densities and conservation reserves.
The PDP process for this referral:
- Initial presentation to the PDP by Council and Cedar Woods in November 2005 to identify key issues and further information required.
- A series of workshops and focus groups during February and March 2006 on key issues including native vegetation, infrastructure, and activity centre, and to refine development concepts and draft planning controls.
- PDP run consultation process targeting key stakeholders during April and May 2006 to assist in informing itself and formulating recommendations. Key stakeholders provided written submissions by 17 April followed by interviews with the PDP in early May 2006.
- Further workshops and focus groups with Council and the proponent in May and June 2006 to respond to issues raised in the submissions, including further refinements to the development concepts and draft planning scheme controls.
