Planning for all of Melbourne
The Government released Planning for all of Melbourne in May 2008. This report marked the completion of the Audit of Melbourne 2030 and was informed by the independent Audit Expert Group's report.
The Victorian Government will focus on:
- Developing a new planning partnership with clearer State / local government responsibilities.
- Increasing State Government resourcing and coordination of implementation.
- Establishing clear requirements for the amount and diversity of housing growth in each metropolitan municipality.
- Improved activity centre planning.
- More effective community and stakeholder engagement.
- Planning for longer term growth.
The Victorian Government's long-term planning framework for managing Melbourne's growth is set out in the following policy documents:
Melbourne 2030 Strategy (October 2002), Planning for all of Melbourne (May 2008) and Melbourne 2030: a planning update - Melbourne @ 5 million (December 2008).
