The Environmental Effects Statement (EES) process was completed when the Minister for Planning released his Assessment of the proposed Heywood Pulp Mill in May 2006.
Project History
On 3 March 2005, the Minister for Planning determined that an EES was required for the proposed Heywood Pulp Mill.
The EES and Amendment C23 to the Glenelg Planning Scheme were placed on public exhibition from 15 November 2005 to 10 January 2006.
The Minister for Planning appointed an inquiry panel jointly under the Environment Effects Act 1978 and the Planning and Environment Act 1987. The Inquiry Panel Report is attached below:
Project Description
A mill capable of producing 350,000 air-dry metric tonnes of paper from wood chips, with associated infrastructure including a high-pressure gas pipeline. The wood chips would be sourced from eucalypt plantations and the mill would use the chemi-thermomechanical process to produce the pulp.
