Practice and advisory notes
These notes are generally aimed at the planning practitioner however they can also help people who only occasionally interact with the planning system. They include:
To help identify and locate a particular practice note, new and revised practice notes will have a unique number. The separation of notes into VPP or General Practice notes will gradually be phased out. As existing notes are revised they will become Practice Notes with a unique number rather than VPP or General Practice Notes.
Locating a practice or advisory note
You can locate the note you need in four ways:
1) By list
List of all practice notes and advisory notes.
2) By subject group
View individual notes, with a brief description of each note, by selecting an appropriate subject group below.
Activity centres, urban design, car parking, transport & traffic
Environment, native vegetation, wildfire, flooding
Extractive industry and mining
Miscellaneous
Neighbourhood character, heritage, intervention, height limits
Planning permit process
Planning schemes, amendments, zones, overlays, local policy
Residential, subdivision
Rural, timber, coastal, green wedge
3) By keyword search of the entire set
Search a composite of Note: This is a large document and may take some time to download.
Open the document and, in Acrobat Reader, select Edit/Find (Ctrl+F) or Edit/Search (Shift+Ctrl+F), then type in the word(s) to be located. All notes will be searched and the results displayed.
