Mt Shamrock Quarry Extension

Status
The Environmental Effects Statement (EES) process was completed when the Minister for Planning released his Assessment of the proposed extension of Readymix’s Mt Shamrock Quarry in May 2006.
Project History
On 22 January 2002 the Minister for Planning determined that an EES was required for the proposed extension of Readymix’s Mt Shamrock Quarry at Pakenham.
The EES and planning permit application were advertised and placed on public exhibition from 21 May to 4 July 2005.
The Minister for Planning appointed an inquiry panel jointly under the Environment Effects Act 1978 and the Planning and Environment Act 1987. The Inquiry Panel Report is attached below:
Project Description
The proposal is for a 20 hectare extension of the existing Mt Shamrock Quarry at Pakenham, generally to the south and west of the existing pit. The extension would enable the quarry to continue to operate for about 20 years after existing approved economic resources are exhausted.
