Wildlife in Schools

Provision is made for Victorian schools to possess the following species of wildlife for non-invasive observation in the classroom.

Reptiles

To facilitate this activity at a Government School, the following permit may be down-loaded for signature by the Principal of that school.

At Independent Schools:
To apply for permission to conduct this activity at an Independent School, please contact the DSE Customer Service Centre on 136 186 or by email customer.service@dse.vic.gov.au

Classroom observation / education of native wildlife:
Primary and Secondary schools and Kindergartens require a permit to keep frogs, reptiles, birds and mammals for observation in the classroom. (Wildlife must not be taken from the wild without a permit).
