Victorian Catchment Management Council Members - Expressions of Interest
About the Victorian Catchment Management Council
The Victorian Catchment Management Council (VCMC) is established under the Catchment and Land Protection Act 1994 and is accountable to the Minister for Environment and Climate Change, Gavin Jennings MLC.
VCMC is the Government’s peak advisory body on matters relating to catchment management and the condition of land and water resources throughout Victoria, including advice on priorities for related research and investigation. Other major statutory functions involve encouraging the co-operation of persons and bodies involved in the management of land and water resources, and the promotion of community awareness and understanding of issues relating to catchment management.
VCMC undertakes its work in co-operation with a range of stakeholders, including the ten Victorian Catchment Management Authorities, Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE), Department of Primary Industries and Environment Protection Authority.
VCMC consists of up to ten members appointed for a term of up to three years. One VCMC member is appointed chairperson.
VCMC Appointments
Consideration will be given to the need for VCMC members to have between them experience and knowledge of:
- land protection
- water resource management
- primary industry
- environment protection and conservation
- local government.
Experience and knowledge in the governance of public sector boards/councils/trusts and in community engagement are highly desirable.
Current members of the VCMC may re-apply for appointment.
This application is ONLY for appointment as a member of VCMC. The opportunity to express interest in appointment as the VCMC chairperson has already closed.
