The Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE) publishes a wide range of publications to meet your information needs. These vary from easy-to-read brochures about important issues in your local forests, to detailed technical reports describing recent research developments.

State of the Forests Report Cover
Reports
  • State of the Forests Report 2008 - The report meets a commitment to improve openness, accountability and community engagement in forest management.
  • State of the Forests Report 2003 - The report is produced every five years, together with Australia’s State of the Forests Report and Victoria’s State of the Environment Report to improve openness, accountability and community engagement in forest management.

Forest Management Plan Cover
Plans
  • Forest Management Plans - Strategic plans of management documenting the principles and actions that guide the management of State forests in Victoria.
  • Wood Utilisation Plans - plans detailing the location, nature and approximate timing of timber harvesting including the location of associated access roads and a plan for the allocation of wood to processors.
  • Timber Release Plans - Operational planning information that sets out specific details of proposed harvesting operations on State forest.

Forest Recreation Notes & Information Sheets
  • Forest Recreation Notes - Essential information if you're visiting Victoria's forests. Forest Notes tells you where to go and what to do, as well as providing information about bringing pets and vehicles.
  • Forest Information Sheets - Concise information about a range of projects and individual topics.
