Bendigo - Forest Management Plan
"Shaping our forest's future"
A Management Plan has been developed for State forest in the Bendigo Forest Management Area (FMA). The Plan was developed with extensive input from local communities to provide visions and directions for the balanced use and care of State forest, consistent with the Victorian Government’s commitment to ecologically sustainable forest management.
The Bendigo FMA Forest Management Plan was released on 25 October 2008.
Many of the valuable suggestions provided by the community in submissions to the Proposed Management Plan will be implemented through an ongoing Action Planning process. Information about the Action planning process is provided in Chapters 1 and 11 of the Plan.
Prescriptions to maintain habitat in timber harvesting areas
Forest management prescriptions for the Bendigo Forest Management Area (FMA) have been revised alongside the development of the forest management plan. These prescriptions provide the detailed direction for the management of timber harvesting within forest coupes (ie individual harvest areas) consistent with the management plan.
