Falling tree branches
Victorians are reminded to remain aware of their surrounds and to expect that branches may fall from nearby trees in windy conditions, as branches have been weakened by drought, hot weather and fire.
Due to the extreme weather conditions experienced in recent months, many trees are stressed and prone to dropping limbs.
Trees in fire affected areas may have roots burnt out and trees may be more susceptible to falling or breaking.
Residents should be vigilant to protect themselves from injury from nearby trees.
Those driving in rural or bushfire affected areas to take extra care on the roads and to be cautious of falling branches and trees. CFA and DSE advise road users to remain outside areas affected by fires and to take extra care due to the risk of trees falling across roads. People are also advised not to park vehicles under trees.
