Fire and Victoria's Parks and Forests
Victoria's parks and forests contain a great diversity of ecosystems. These ecosystems include mallee woodlands in the State's north-west, widespread heathlands and wetlands and tall, dense forests and lush rainforest in mountain areas. About one third of Victoria is national park, State forest or other conservation area. Of this 7 million hectares, about half comprises national and other parks, and half comprises State Forest.
