Another successful Summer by the Sea!
Coast Action/Coastcare’s annual coastal activity program, Summer by the Sea has just wrapped up for another year. Each year, the program introduces Victorians to their marine and coastal backyard by hosting a range of fun and educational coastal activities.
This year’s theme was ‘Life On The Edge’. Our coastal plants and animals are amazing survivors - life on the edge can be difficult for our precious biodiversity. Come and learn more about our coast, and the challenges we all face in keeping it beautiful. Don't forget that the 'Life on the Edge' challenge runs all summer long - more info at www.lifeontheedge.org.au
Over 10,000 Victorians enjoyed this year's program. Participants had the chance to meet rockpool occupants, paddle a canoe through a mangrove estuary, discover beach fossils, try snorkelling for the first time or meet a penguin-guarding Maremma dog.
Participants were again filled with praise for the dedicated team of facilitators, activity leaders and instructors who worked hard while everyone else was in holiday mode.
Thanks to everyone who helped make this year's Summer by the Sea such a success! | |
