The Victorian Fishing Atlas – 2001 identified 96 fishing spots and fishing locations in the Melbourne region, from Torquay on the Bellarine Peninsula in the west, to Flinders near the eastern tip of the Mornington Peninsula.

The table below shows that only 7 of these fishing spots were in a Marine National Park or Marine Sanctuary. Recreational fishing opportunities continue in the other 89 fishing spots in this region.

Marine National Parks and Marine Sanctuaries form less than 2% of Port Phillip Bay.
