Rockpool ramble

Come face to face with the amazing inhabitants of Victoria’s rocky shores. A special place where the land meets the sea, our rockpools are home to an incredible array of life. Elephant snails, decorator crabs and eleven-armed seastars are among the critters you may encounter on a rockpool adventure. Led by our qualified guides. Sturdy shoes required.

Take a walk on the wild side and learn more about your unique local coastline. Dig for dinosaurs, try Tai Chi by the sea, fossick for seashells, peek at penguins or seek out a shipwreck. Victoria’s coast contains many hidden treasures. Let local experts guide you through these fascinating coastal sites of discovery. These areas are home to a host of weird and wonderful animals and plants. Go kayaking in an estuary, hunt for aquatic minibeasts or learn more about seagrass meadows. 4. Dog’s Breakfast

Our dogs love the beach as much as we do. Come along and learn more about your local beach from the point of view of your dog. We’ll treat owners and their canine best friend to a free breakfast. Please bring your dog on a leash, and BYO doggie bags. Presented in partnership with Birds Australia.

Coastal games and fun for the youngsters. Have fun in our unique coastal environments through activities aimed at inspiring the imagination and encouraging learning. Build a sandcastle, come face to face with an anemone, make some beach art or comb the high tide mark for a paper nautilus.

For those planning on doing some fishing this summer, come and learn from the experts. Find out about Victoria’s unique fish species and the marine environment. Hear how to fish responsibly while improving your chances of bringing home the big ones!

7. Into the Blue

Explore the length of our coast or the depths of the ocean from the comfort of an armchair. Our exciting new program of marine and coastal films, art, photography, discussions and presentations is ready to roll. Curious about the creatures of the deep, or maritime history, or perhaps the lifecycle of a coastal dinosaur? Then come and learn more from our team of experts as we go Into the Blue.

For those with an adventurous streak. Try sea kayaking, sailing or snorkelling, under the close supervision of qualified instructors. Fun for the older kids and the adults. 9. Coast Action Out & About

Over the holiday period, the Coast Action/Coastcare team will be out and about at a coastal location near you. Whether it be our Coast Action Information Tent, the Fishy Ed Shed or one of our roving Coastal Wildlife Displays, we have the coast covered this Summer. Come get involved in your coastal community, meet some local wildlife, or join a volunteer group. You’ll find us at major festivals, markets and events. A great source of information on all things coastal and marine.
