Bioregional Conservation Status and EVC benchmarks

15.1 Herb-rich Woodlands - Alluvial terraces and/or creeklines

EVC 67 Alluvial Terraces Herb-rich Woodland
Open woodland on broad alluvial plains and along ephemeral drainage lines. Soils are generally poorly drained duplex soils with sandy loam overlying a heavier clay subsoil. Understorey consists of few, if any shrubs with the striking feature of this EVC being the high species-richness of the ground-layer and the low biomass of this cover, particularly in summer.

EVC 164 Creekline Herb-rich Woodland
Woodland or open forest occurring on creek terraces and along shallow drainage lines with ephemeral flows. Soils are mostly alluvial deposits of seasonally wet sands and silts. Characterised by a sparse shrub layer above a grassy/sedgy understorey, often rich in herbs within the inter-tussock spaces.

15.2 Herb-rich Woodlands - Damp Sands

EVC 3 Damp Sands Herb-rich Woodland
A low, grassy or bracken-dominated eucalypt forest or open woodland with a tall shrub layer and ground layer rich in herbs, grasses, and orchids. Occurs mainly on flat or undulating areas on moderately fertile, relatively well-drained, deep sandy or loamy topsoils over heavier subsoils (duplex soils).

Bioregional Conservation Status and EVC benchmarks

An EVC may have a different conservation status in each bioregion in which it is found. To look up an EVC's Bioregional Conservation Status (BCS), download the spreadsheet on the
Simplified Native Vegetation Groups page.

You can also use this spreadsheet to help find the corresponding
EVC benchmarks, which are listed by bioregion.
