Hattah-Kulkyne Lakes Ramsar Site
| The Hattah-Kulkyne Lakes Ramsar Site is a system of 12 shallow temporary lakes characterised by River Red Gum and Black Box landscape. The lakes are located on the Murray River floodplain between Ouyen and Mildura, 480 kilometres north-west of Melbourne. This site was chosen for its value to waterfowl and its importance in maintaining regional biodiversity. | ![]() |
- More than 100 native plant species, 6 of which are threatened in Victoria.
- 120 native animal species, 39 of which are threatened in Victoria with 2 of these threatened nationally.
- Provides feeding, resting and breeding habitat for more than 47 waterbird species.
