Socio-Economic Indexes for Areas (SEIFA) - Maps
The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) produces four different Socio-Economic Indexes for Area (SEIFA), which enable study of different aspects of relative area disadvantage. The Index of Relative Socio-economic Disadvantage (IRSD), one of the four SEIFA indexes, was calculated using measures of disadvantage collected in the 2006 Census of Population and Housing (see ABS' Technical Paper for details). Mapping the IRSD provides a small-area picture of where comparatively disadvantaged and less disadvantaged places are located.
