Monitoring and analysing of this demand and supply of housing is important for ensuring appropriate and well located housing continues to be available for all Victorians.

Dwelliographics - exploring the demographics of the housing landscape
The first release of the dwelliographics project is now available. The main report provides a overview of the research project to date, plus highlights major findings at the metropolitan Melbourne scale. The Dwelliographic profile series provides graphs and commentary on key dwelliographic trends emerging between 1991 and 2001 for metropolitan Melbourne plus all 31 metropolitan councils.

Metropolitan Residential Land and Dwelling Supply
DPCD monitors and identifies residential development activity/opportunities across all metropolitan Melbourne municipalities as well as for the City of Greater Geelong and the Surf Coast East area. This information provides the base data for the Urban Development Program and includes the current supply quantum and anticipated construction timing of all identified residential development projects for the next five years. The monitoring and analysis is conducted for Broadhectare subdivision activity & Redevelopment projects.

Research is currently underway addressing spatial and temporal changes to the residential built form, housing markets and housing affordability at a small area level throughout metropolitan Melbourne. Check this page for updates on this on-going research endeavour.
